Danon, Ishi's story is terribly tragic, agreed. What an extrodinary man he was though. Bless his heart.

Maggie, hang in there!

I'm hanging! It's noon and we still have electricity. Talked to ex sister in law in Ft Walton Bch, east of here and they are taking a beating from the feeder bands on the east side. I am just now starting to get some nasty gushes of wind.

Maggin, We have dear friends living in Ocean Springs, Pass Christian and Bay St Louis. We visit them when we can. That is such a beautiful area. I love the Ft Walton Bch beach - especially Grayton - that area has the best beaches in the world.

Choo Choo Ch'Boogie
(V. Horton, D. Darling, M. Gabler)
Photograph of Louis Jordan.
Transcribed from vocals by Louis Jordan, recorded 1/23/46;
From The Best of Louis Jordan, MCA Records, MCAD-4079.

Headin' for the station with a pack on my back,
I'm tired of transportation in the back of hack,
I love to hear the rhythm of the clickity clack,
And hear the lonesome whistle, see the smoke from the stack,
And pal around with democratic fellows named Mac;
So, take me right back to the track, Jack!

Choo choo, choo choo, ch'boogie!
Woo woo, ooh ooh, ch'boogie!
Choo choo, choo choo, ch'boogie!
Take me right back to the track, Jack!

You reach your destination, but alas and alack!
You need some compensation to get back in the black,
You take your morning paper from the top of the stack,
And read the situation from the front to the back,
The only job that's open needs a man with a knack,
So put it right back in the rack, Jack!

Choo choo, choo choo, ch'boogie!
Woo woo, ooh ooh, ch'boogie!
Choo choo, choo choo, ch'boogie!
Take me right back to the track, Jack!

Gonna settle down by the railroad track,
Live the life of Riley in a beaten-down shack,
So when I hear a whistle I can peak through the crack,
And watch the train a rollin' when they're ballin' the jack,
I just love the rhythm of the clickity clack,
So, take me right back to the track, Jack!

Choo choo, choo choo, ch'boogie!
Woo woo, ooh ooh, ch'boogie!
Choo choo, choo choo, ch'boogie!
Take me right back to the track, Jack!
Take me right back to the track, Jack!

one of my favourite train rides is on the Polar Bear Express, which travels up to James Bay

I did the trip with two friends from university, about ten years after we graduated.

My friend P drove up from Tranna to where I was living in Sudbury (4 hour drive), then we drove together up to Timmins where our friend V was living (another 4 hour drive). We caught the bus over to Cochrane (over an hour on the bus), and then hopped on the train.

you take the train up past the treeline til you get to Moosonee

Then, if you're smart you grab a ride in a freighter-canoe, and dare the driver to beat the tourist launch to Moose Factory.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

<scream a lot, it'll make him go faster>

Have to back and read (and see) everything. So busy! So glad to be busy.
Did other people get a cry for help from c.i.? It makes me so happy to be on this thread with wonderful, peaceful people. {sigh}

Question for ebeth: if we click on wetlands instead of rainforest, does it still count for our totals?

Question 2; how does it work that our original ackbird Rainforest number is no longer necessary in order to count for our team? When I can't get into able2know, I still use the original ackbirs number to click.

Stradee-c.i. is on a very contentious thread about religion, Arabs in general, arabs in particular, womens rights, especially in Islamic countries. Predudice in particular and in general.
Get the picture? Good one to stay away from. It up to 30 pages- I've only read ten so far (that may, indeed, be my limit) and c.i. hasn't even appeared yet. It's degenerating into name calling, with dlowan as usual, being level-headed but beautifully caustic. She should be able to go to bat for c.i. as well as more reinforcements like littlek and ebeth. In my usual combination of Ludite and laziness, I can't figure out how to register to be on that thread and as you may have gathered am not enthusiatic about doing that. I've sent an email directly to c.i. with my support and condolences. Remember those old nasty abuzz threads? and aren't we happy to be here on this one?
