In a certain country, there are three types of inhabitants: type T who always tell the truth; type F who always lie; and type A who alternately lie and tell the truth. They will answer any question with “Yes” or “No” if one of these answers is possible. If the question can not be answered, they will keep silent. By asking an inhabitant one question, determine which type he is.
@BEeN23JAMmING,
Throw them all off Niagara falls and ask each one as they fall 'Can you swim?'
Have a Lovely Day
@BEeN23JAMmING,
Would a random person of a non-alternating type other than your type, confirm that you always lie?
A: silent
T: yes
F: no
@BEeN23JAMmING,
This is a variant of the classic "talking statue" problem.
But I don't think it is possible in this case... because there are three categories, but only two responses you can get.
@maxdancona,
three responses: yes, no, silence
