He and Sid Caeser and Howard Morris WERE the Golden Age of Comedy.
Of course their writers , who became legends themselves , were part of it. Reiner was the head writer also.

I was a very small kid (5 years old) and learned more about how good comedy worked . My Dad would explain some of the humor and he would admonish me that " Humor is for smart people, so being smart in as many things as you can is what I want you to attain kid". (My mom hd to explain attain and I remember using it as a go to word)
All because of "Your SHow of SHows".

Maryland Public Television recently had a pledge drive and offered a DVD set of Your Show of Shows, plus a bonus set of Sid Caesar show. I snapped that up right away.

Your father was right, humor is for smart people....
