Is our brain this machine - how to get what we want?

@yovav,
I'll tell you what I want right now.

For you to make some sort of sense.

How in holy hell is anyone supposed to know what you mean by "how to get what we want"?

Our brain isn't a machine. It's a lump of living tissue.

The brain is composed of 40% gray and 60% white matter. The gray matter is made up of about 100 billion neurons that gather and transmit signals while the white matter is made of dendrites and axons that the neurons use to transmit signals.

You don't really need a brain. Just a certificate of thinkology.

I could while away the hours
Conferring with the flowers
Consulting with the rain
And my head I'll be scratching
While my thoughts were busy hatching
If I only had a brain
I'd unravel every riddle
For any indiv'ual
In trouble or in pain

{Dorothy}
With the thoughts you'll be thinkin'
You could be another Lincon
If you only had a brain

Oh, I could tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I've never thunk before
And then I'll sit and think some more
I would not be just a nothing
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain.

Gosh, it would be awful pleasin'
To reason out the reason
For things I can't explain
Then perhaps I'll deserve
And be even worthy of you
If I only had a brain

Some people call me the spaced out boy.
Yeah! Some call me the prankster of pain.
Some people call me Yovav,
'Cause I speak of the purpose of the brain.

@chai2,
OK you right
So....Is this 40% gray and 60% white matter - Is intended to execute the will

Are you asking as if the brain is some kind of force or power outside of ourselves?

Our brain IS us.
We are our brain.

Everything that works mechanically is a machine, and everything works mechanically, including the brain.

Brain is the hardware, but it has many different software applications, such as senses, emotions, cognition, memory, etc.

No. We are not our brains. We are our genitals.

We exist to reproduce. There are plenty of organisms without brains. Every living organism has a way to reproduce.

Our brains only evolved because they were useful in helping us reproduce.

The purpose of the brain parts is to keep the cranium from collapsing inward, which would make seeing, hearing, breathing and eating quite messy.

@Sturgis,
Yeah. Jelly fish have no brains, and just look at their heads.

@roger,
I rest my case.

*note, I am not a lawyer, neither have I portrayed one on television, in a movie or anywhere. I did watch several episodes of Perry Mason though.

@roger,
Ay, there's the rub. I'm after tinkin' one must have a brain to look at anythin'.

How you doing, roger?

Finer than frog's hair.

Are you the former 'Dill Pickle' Debacle? If so, long time - no see. And welcome back!

roger that. I'm incognitive, hence the prefix. Apropos to this topic, I suppose.

@akaDebacle,
Whack yourself on the head. If it goes 'thunk' it's not apropos to anything. If it goes squishy, squishy, you're on the right thread.

Some organisms reproduce more and at a younger age, and their brains play less of a role in keeping them and their young alive longer to help each other.
