I agree. He's the one that outed her by putting her name in the paper. He ought to be the one punished. He didn't have to print it. He could have written his story without using her name.

Rayban is only right insofar as he is willing to lay some significant responsibility at the feet of Novak.

Where he is not right is to suggest that blame stops here or is most appropriately placed here.

Never cared for Novak; and much less after his revelation of Plame.

Well I will say, he has fooled an army of fairly bright people for 30 plus years. Perhaps the pressure of looking over his shoulder for a special prosecutor for the past 2 years has been too much for him. He knows he commited a major error in judgement because he rushed something into print and I feel nothing but contempt for him because he fell victim to the same type of professional avarice that destroyed Dan Rather. It is best described by calling him a "Walter Cronkite wannabe".

Whoa Blatham.......your "lynch mob" mentality and your loathing for Rove are showing. Would you please take a photo of your face when the special prosecutor's report is published and Rove is cleared.........a picture of you gnashing your teeth would be a great reward for me after having listened to your vilification of him and Bush for the past few months that I have visited this board. Laughing

no, the blame doesn't stop with him.

but, he certainly is guilty of mishandling information that he new he should never have had. he could have simply not printed it. but, nooooo.

whoever is responsible for getting this rolling, i really do hope that fitzgerald nails their hide. not just for this incident, but also because a lack of punishment for tattling on something this important sends the wrong kind of message to americans.

it wouldn't be too cool living in a country full of snitches egged on by the perception that the government encourages it.

Would you like to make a small but memorable wager that he will be found guilty of something that will cause legal action against him.....I will make the same wager saying that he will not be found guilty of anything that will cause legal action against him.

Do Libs get an e-mail every morning instructing them on what positions and issues to push that day?

I know about Karl Rove from way back in his humble Austin Texas beginnings. Actually sat in his private office once while I was managing a local political campaign.

None of the Republicans I met throughout the county had anything good to say about him, but it seemed you couldn't get your candidate backed without going through him.

He's been called a "snake," a "backstabber," and an all round "creep." His tactics were below the belt, downright unethical, perhaps even slanderous, if you could actually catch him.

Bet he's just offended enough of the right people in DC to where they want him out of the way, permanently, by whatever legal means they can find.

If he'd been a truely decent person and professional, this incident wouldn't be such a big deal. It's his many other devious manueverings that are catching up with him.

Molly Ivins knows, so do a lot of people.

Novak knows that he is a motor-mouth, that he had lost it or was about to, and on advice of counsel, got out of that TV show.

ehBeth, I'm upping the ante. 20 cents down. Novak ain't no idiot.
