About Saddam Hussien being found all alone with no weapons (apparently) in a hole covered with cardboard, wasn't that the oddest thing? You would have thought with all his AQ connections and WMD he would have been in a better defensive position than that. :wink:

Doctors said that President Bush's only bad habit is he smokes an occasional cigar. Bush says he smokes cigars to help him think. So lucky he's not smoking that often.

goood one, revel.

doesn't make sense, does it ? you would have thought that with having the ability to drop a nuke anywhere in europe on 45 minutes lead time he would have taken some of us with him to make out with the 72 virgins or whatnot...

You would have thought that if Saddam didn't have WMD he would have come clean with UN weapons inspectors.

you would have thought that the administration would have let the u.n. inspectors finish the job before launching a war.

You would have thought that 12 years was enough time to do the job if the inspectors were being allowed to do their job.

Well, Saddam turned out to be pretty crazy and really stupid. Well, perhaps not really. Perhaps this is exactly what he wanted to happen in his country. He obviously didn't give a rats arse about his own people, so why would he care about the welfare of the country they live in? He only gave them more freedom and liberties than in most Middle Eastern countries probably because it was his way of appeasing them just long enough for him to pillage their wealth.

I think trying to come up with a rational explanation as to why Saddam didn't come clean with the inspectors is impossible. He was obviously playing games with the West, and probably enjoying as well.

Dookie? That seemed like a rational and reasoned response. Not completely awash with partisan ideology.

Are you feeling alright?

yes. according to a family friend who lived in bahrain for many years before, during and after gulf I, hussein was well known to always be pushing it, to see how much he could get away with.

Another theory was the fact that Saddam needed to "hide" his supposed WMDs, because he didn't want his neighbors to know he didn't have the weapons to fight another war - like with Iran.

which raises the question;

if war had again broken out between iraq and iran, which of them would the u.s. back ?

surely not much has changed in terms of american interests in the region, so.....
