Hello. Today, 2/2/2020, and of the time of the posting of this, is Groundhog's Day. Happy Groundhog's Day 2020!
I have two questions:
Did the groundhog see his shadow?
What do people do to traditionally celebrate and/or observe the holiday?
Please help. Thank you.
Someone told me Punxsutawney Pete predicted we'll have an early spring. That means he didn't see his shadow.
We're not sure. What would the repercussions be?
@JGoldman10,
No idea who Punxsutawney Pete is (maybe Phil's jealous twin...?)
Anywho, Punxsutawney Phil announced that "Winter is cancelled!"
2020
says so in Vanity Fair.

@Sturgis,
I apologise - I meant Phil not Pete. That was a typo. You should have figured that out.
@JGoldman10,
Ever watch the movie Groundhog Day?
That will show you how this day is celebrated.
@JGoldman10,
Quote: I meant Phil not Pete. That was a typo .
No, it was a simple mistake. You didn't accidentally hit the wrong letter and your keyboard isn't broken.
Quote:
"Typo": the term includes errors due to mechanical failure or slips of the hand or finger, but excludes errors of ignorance, such as spelling errors, or changing and mis-use of words such as "than" and "then".
@hightor,
Pgil would be a typo. I chose g because it's next to h on the keyboard and therefore likely to be mistakenly hit.
I find it saves a lot of time if you spell things out to Mr Goldman.
@hightor,
I was half-asleep when I made that post. That was an error. I probably misread "Phil" as "Pete", or thought of "Pete" when I meant to type "Phil".
@Linkat,
How much of the celebration(s) depicted in the film is rooted in actuality?
@JGoldman10,

Completely, I love the movie, it reminds me of being here.

@JGoldman10,
Over here Groundhog Day means the film. Whenever it's referenced that's what people are talking about, the repetitive nature of things.
When the actual groundhog is mentioned the response is, 'What? That's really a thing? Like in the film?"
@bobsal u1553115,
Actually Groundhog Day was mentioned a lot during Brexit.
@izzythepush,
I'm still not sure if most voters really wanted Brexit or not. It seems a bad move to me.
@bobsal u1553115,
Of course it's a bad move. Nobody really gave a **** about it until we had a referendum, then it split the country in two.
