Hello. Happy Belated Chinese New Year 2020! As of the time of the posting of this, Chinese New Year started Saturday, January 25th and will last until February 8.
What does one do to celebrate this festival? I don't know because I am not Chinese?
I am curious. Please help. Thank you.
@JGoldman10,
Just be nice to a rat, maybe you know someone with a pet one you could give a bit of cheese to.
@JGoldman10,
In seriousness I think giving small gifts of money in red envelopes is a thing.
@oralloy,
Not sure which is worse, you saying that or me knowing what it is.
Along with some money in red envelopes as mentioned by izzythepush, people enjoy eating dumplings as their shape and golden color are similar to gold coins.
There are parades with dragons dancing which is to bring rain for a healthy harvest and a lion dance to get rid of evil spirits and firecrackers being set off to scare away evil spirits.
Apart from that, I know almost nothing about the lunar new year celebration.

@Linkat,
I wasn't trying to rude. I am sure there are Chinese site members I could PM.
In fact I think I recall meeting some here on this site a couple of years ago.
@JGoldman10,
Try using google. It's not difficult.
