Your very worst experience at the hairdresser's.

That's it!
I've had it!
I'm officially divorcing my current hairdresser!
A man who doesn't seem to be able to listen when I explain what I want done.
I've persevered for a few months now (because he's very local - I can walk there from home) but the last haircut was.. well, kinda crappy! Evil or Very Mad Sad
So I spoke to a couple of women at work who have great haircuts .. & lo & behold: They have the same hairdresser!
Far from my home, but what the hell!
So that's where I'm going next Thursday. (Couldn't get in today.)
Wish me luck! Very Happy

GO FOR IT GIRL!

Go for it. The distance doesn't matter, a good hairdresser is gold, and makes or breaks your looks.

Don't know how long ago I started a thread about my hair being cut way too short, but I'm STILL waiting for it to grow out.

I've got a LEAST another month before I can think about having this mess corrected.

Let us know how it goes, maybe I'll go to him to (clicking on expedia looking for a flight to oz).

When I was about 12, desperately trying to fit in with cool people I decided I wanted a perm.
Sadly the lady that did it was of the 'blue rinse brigade' she only did hair for elderly ladies so my hair was cut short and then permed into tight curls.
Afterwards it looked like a crash helmet.
Ive left my hair naturally straight since.

Sad

Terribly, terribly sad story, mg!
I most likely suits you far better straight.

That was about 20 years ago...
I was trying to grow my hair, which was already quite long at the back, but still shortish (about chin length) in the front.
so I asked the hairdresser (my godmother) to get all the hair the same length all round.

I ended up with something like this:

Different colours, but you probably get the idea!

I was close to tears, and never let her cut my hair again!

Oh, it's not that bad, Bohne! Actually, I think I prefer it to my current haircut!

Hmm, I like straight but had it layered about a year ago and it showed a natural kink to it so its a bit boho or straight, depending on how greasy it gets(!!)

Please do...

funny, right before I saw this thread update, I was reading the thread names, and fooling with my hair.

pulling it all back and up and twisting to see if it's long enough to put in a french twist yet.

Nope, one little bit on the right of the back of my head still flutters out (and not attractively).

Another couple of weeks and it's go up.

hmmm...maybe in a month (fingers crossed) I can go to someone and explain what I want and we can get to work.

So!

Describe what you got msolga!!!

I was at my sister's two days ago.

She was in the mudroom, doing laundry....and had her back to me as I greeted her.

And began answering me...with her back still turned to me. Her voice was quavery and it scared me to death. I was startled and said, "What is it? What's the matter!!" worrying about one of the children or something...

When she turned around I was stricken with horror. Someone had practically shaved her head. She must have had it an eighth of an inch off of her head. (OK, maybe I'm exaggerating, but it was horrifically and unnaturally short.)

Some people have drug problems, gambling addictions... My sister has a haircut/haircolor fetish. We were bound to get to this point sooner or later. She's constantly getting tiny amendments to her latest hair do. She's completely out of hair. I have no idea what will become of her with no hair to cut.

Bless her poor little heart. Her face was crimson.

People, don't let this happen to you!! Surprised

I let a friend of my brother cut my hair in college. Joe (my brother) told me Alan (his friend) was a great haircutter who cut hair in his kitchen in his free time so he didn't have to pay the salon a cut. So... ok.... Let's go! I told him, as coached by my brother, to do what he thought best. I knew he was cutting my hair short, but I didn't realize how short! I had an 80s era, girls-style buzz-cut. Yikes! It was 5th grade all over again but worse. (in 6th grade my sister trimmed my hair so short I had one choice at the salon to fix it: the Dorothy Hamel cut). I spent years 'growing it out'.

It was more of a case of: "Fix this up! Make it manageable, it's driving me nuts!!! Don't under any circumstances make it any worse!"

That she it. Told me about the bits that were out of kilter & needed to grow, thinned out & trimmed other bits ... basically got my hair under control again. Very Happy The great thing is, now I can dry it in about 5 minutes, no mucking about ... add a bit of product for a bit more body (my hair is naturally quite fine & thick & if cut badly, limp Sad ..) and it's just fine now! Very Happy

The creative stuff will come later!
