Does Robocop 1987 remind anyone of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns comic?

I mean Dark Knight Returns came out in 1986 and the script to Robocop was done in 1984 yet filming began in 1986 as you can see how similar the two sources are with the media breaks, satire, Robocop's arms breaking through to get bad guy like in TDKR when Batman did that too and similar climax and all.
