"Batman Begins" was too dark for the very young and "War of the Worlds" also too frightening. It wasn't just Cruise's antics on Oprah but his frightening confrontation with Matt Lauer on the Today Show proselytizing Scientology, a pyramid self-help sceme pure and simple. I'm sure Spielberg had some words with Tom about his technique of promoting pictures by taking inventory of other stars, psychiatrists and just about anyone who doesn't subscribe to his cult.
I haven't heard about his behaviour on the Today Show yet, if anything I am sure he just discredited scientology I can't see him as the most convincing, and articulate person on such a matter. I didn't expect much of War of the Worlds, so it was a pleasent surprise, despite the hype.
