What would you do in Germany if you had to live there?

So, good possibility I may be moving to Germany for a couple years. (Someone get Walter up off the floor.) Oldest kid will be off to Grad school, youngest going to college and both, I think, have been raised to be able to take care of themselves.
If I go, I will have no job or responsibilities really. Just a hausfrau I guess...

What do older, retired men do in Germany?

@jespah,
It truly is. I am sure weekends will be busy and 3 day weekends and holidays and such. But M-F I will have to find something to do.
I was just reading about llc's in Germany "Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung". Everything sounds harder in German. Smile

@McGentrix,
First, you have to learn German. You will not be treated like a tourist.

Second, Germans are very law abiding and you darn well better be that way too. They don't tolerate sloppy habits the way Americans do.

Third, Germans want their personal space. In America you stand in line groin to buttcrack, but in Germany you stand back far enough that it's not certain you are in line.

Even harder than a "GmbH" will be to get an "Aufenthaltstitel" (residence permit).

@McGentrix,
I had an office in Salzburg for the times we did a lot of work in the gypsum business. Its a great country. Think of it as a "pocket version" (geographically) of us and S Canada.
I used to traipse around hunting rocks and fossils.

Take up plein aire painting. Obviously youre gonna have to larn the language. Where ya gonna be going? I reccomend the seacoast theres a really good "beach combing" industry foramber and sharks teeth.

I found German Comedy really pathetic because they are an entire race of " hyper-detail oriented people" and they give too muchinformation in setup lines. ITS A JOKE, not A biography!!

"Ya think you can learn to like Chocolate ?

DO NOT< (I mean this) BUY A CUCKOO CLOCK!!!, fuckin things are evil.

Oh Hey! He also sponsored my trip to Glorious trip to Finthen Funny Farm, also known affectionately as Finthen FlugPlatz. It was also sometimes known as Finthen Army Airfield.
