I recently reformatted my hard drive. Every time I try to install ICQ it reads as "Unpacking files (powered by Red Bend software)" and then freezes at a low percentage of completion. I can't even ctrl+atl+del restart, I have to do it on the tower.
This is so irritating. I've tried downloading multiple versions but it happens without fail. Now I'm stuck with AIM, which is a terrible program designed for teenagers with the attention span of june bugs.
I don't know what's wrong, but if you can't get it working you could perhaps try ICQ Lite, or Miranda Instant Messenger (
http://www.miranda-im.org ). The latter can be used as a replacement for other messenger programs as well, such as MSN, AIM and Jabber, all in one program, simultaneously, and it starts up a lot faster than the original ICQ client.
