If letting the deep state run everything without disruption is good for national security, then should the president and anyone else who threatens to disrupt the deep state's workings be either subjugated to deep state authority or removed?
If so, what would that do to democracy and liberty?

Did you use google or some other search engine? I was working from memory and still think it was Cheney who released it to the press for political reasons. Not to damage her although it did but to get her husband in a bind. Her husband proved that they were lieing so as does Trump they tried to ruin his reputation.
