Lt. Aldo Raine: You didn't say the goddamn rendezvous was in a f**kin' basement.
Lt. Archie Hicox: I didn't know.
Lt. Aldo Raine: You said it was in a tavern.
Lt. Archie Hicox: It is a tavern.
Lt. Aldo Raine: Yeah, in a basement. You know, fightin' in a basement offers a lot of difficulties. Number one being, you're fightin' in a basement!

@Lash,
Not trying to be a pain.

But it would really help if you identified the movie or show, especially if the name of the character isn't familiar. I don't know any of your quotes, but might recognize if you said where they came from. Kinda like everyone else has been doing.

@chai2,
Apparently the Raine and hicox came from the movie Inglorious Basterds.

Never saw it myself, it was from what I just read, a Quentin Tarantino product.

The one about Flipping, was the Usual Suspects.

Not a distant idea about the other/s.

@Sturgis,
I guess the “famous” aspect of “famous lines from movies or TV” is subjective?

Can’t you guys hear Sam L.? One of his best roles, and that’s saying a lot.

@Lash,
I can't. I have no idea who Sam L is.

We don't all watch the same stuff.

@izzythepush,
There’s this handy reference tool I found a few years ago. It seems that if you copy and paste a line of a few words, this google contraption will instantaneously tell you who said it.

Just for people who like to guess. I suppose those who don’t can move to the next.

@Lash,
This isn't a quiz thread though, and people only use google if their interest is spiked.

@Lash,
I would never have guessed that Sam L referred to Samuel L Jackson. I was thinking of L as a surname.

Absolutely.

I didn't know any of them either. Rather, I mean that I've never seen IB or US, but I know they're famous, that they're Tarentino, etc.

There's been others on this thread where I've never seen the movie or show, but heard of them, and could then appreciate it and even smile when I saw the quote, because I knew where they came from and better the context.

Shirley MacLaine was magnificent in that movie, that particular scene was so raw and satisfying. Thanks Chai

I've been binging on Peter Gunn today. One memorable episode had no dialog. Just an original score by Henry Mancini.

Judy Judy Judy -
Only Angels Have Wings.. 'In the film his former girl friend is called Judith or Judy (played by Rita Hayworth). Cary has lines like "Hello, Judy. Come on, Judy. Now, Judy." But he never said "Judy, Judy, Judy." ' Only Goober, on The Andy Griffith Show said it.

From Stage Door,
Katharine Hepburn as Terry Randall Nina stage production as another character:
Hello Mother, Father. The calla lilies are in bloom again. Such a strange flower, suitable to any occasion. I carried them on my wedding day and now I place them here in memory of something that has died.
