I've a feeling I should post this here rather than on the Original Photography forum.
My problem is that I've got a jpeg image that has had two layers merged, one being the photograph and the other being the photographer's logo. The image has been flattened.
Is there any way of separating the two layers?
For the record, I have Adobe Photoshop and I use a Mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The logo serves as his copyright.
Why do you need to remove it?
If you bought an image file from the photographer and it includes the logo it is probably just his studio policy.
With most studios, if you buy a high resolution digital file you also have to buy the copyright to the image. You might try calling the photographer to see if you can get the file without the logo.
I agree with boomerang.
But I would also add the technical answer is no. When two layers are "merged" they become one layer. There is no information kept to distinguish one layer from the other.
I think what we might really be dealing with here is a digital watermark, not a logo, but I'm waiting for more information.
From what you both say, it's not possible for me to remove it.
I'll speak to the photographer and see what he can do.
Thanks for your help.
