Hey. I've got real serious problems with my computer. Please if you can, help me. I love PC games and for Christmas my family got a new Fujitsu Siemens with windows XP. I can't remember what kind of video card we had but it wasn't really good enough for new video games. It was more suited to office work and stuff so we got a new one. An ATI Radeon 9550 512MB. The games were now running much smoother on higher graphics and everything was fine. We had to update the drivers a couple times but that was fine.
The problem began (or at least, it was noticed) when I got Knights of the Old Republic 2. Whenever a movie played in the game it would quit out to desktop and a pop-up said
VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer respnding to graphics driver commands. Please tell ATI Technologies about this.
. So we got the KOTOR 2 patch from the internet. That didn't help. Now the game wouldn't play at all. I tried the first KOTOR game and the same thing applied to that. So we sent the computer into a computer workshop and had all the drivers updated. Now we could play the games but once again we hit a problem. After about 10 minutes the game quit to desktop and the same message popped up. I tried another LucasArts game:Star Wars Jedi Academy and the same thing happened to that!
I tried recently to install Max Payne 2 and it tells me that I should install the third disk but the only disk left is the play disk and that doesn't work. I tried to play Max Payne 1 and that installs fine but wont play. It also quits out to desktop. Final Fantasy 7 does the same thing. HELP! These games worked on my old computer! ARGH! Its sooo annoying! How old are those last two games? They should easily run. But they don't. My question is: Whats happening? Is it my graphics card? Is it a program running in the background? What? Please please help me. Please. I'm only 16 and I just don't know enough about computers to do any more.

Thank you for your help.
