Hello!

I'm new to A2K and this is my first posting and my second response.
(My first was to why I am not posting) Very Happy

Hopefully this post isn't silly, but I have been going crazy looking for a few really great posters that I can have framed and placed over my media center in my livingroom.

What are your favorite movie posters, and why?

Thanks!

Hi kellyM-

Welcome to A2K!

I think that the pictures that I would choose would be those of classic films, like Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, 2001, Dr. Zhivago. North by Northwest. etc.

But you need to figure out what YOU want, and what would look well in your room. Good Luck!

Great Poster!

Well, my room has camel colored and dark chocolate furniture, red accents and really...that's about all the color. I haven't painted yet, so the walls are still white. Really, any poster that is vibrant and has a lot going on in it would be great.
My hubby has suggested Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc...
I had my hopes set on Dragonwyck 1946...only one I can find is in Spanish! :-)

Welcome to A2K Kellym :-)

I like Mel Gibson movie posters simply because I like Mel Gibson, although I like the classic film idea that Phoenix mentioned.

Hey kellym, if you are interested in recent posters, many video stores, including Blockbuster, get tons of posters in that they don't want and give them away if you ask. I've got tons of them.

They do occasionally have posters for older movies being re-released on video/dvd, but not often.

The Gone with the Wind poster mentioned by Phoenix has got to be one of the best ever. It comes both vertical and horizontal and with a red or yellow background (I think).

I'd also like a Casablanca or The Big Sleep poster. I like Boggie.

For vibrant with a lot going on in it, you can't beat the poster for Singin' in the Rain. (This is my first attempt to post on image on A2K, so let's hope it works.)

Do you have a blockbuster or video store out there in the Canadian boonies? Just ask at the people at the front desk - unfortunately, video store staffers take most of the really good ones.

No blockbuster near me. There is only one small video store near here and I'll check it out. Thanks ;-)

Thanks, LarryBS. Yep, my avatar is a Norman Rockwell Saturday Evening Post cover. I was a marble-playing tomboy at a time and in a place (the 1950's, suburban New Jersey) when it was considered highly unconventional for girls to play marbles, so I've always loved that picture.

Hi Kellym: Movie posters are great. GWTW is colorful and so is Bree's Singin' in the Rain, but my favorite is Wuthering Heights with Olivier and Oberon. You mentioned Dragonwyck. I haven't thought about that movie in years. (A good book, too) http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:ss3EJDForPgC:www.thedirectorsview.com/images/DragonwyckPoster.jpg
Is that the Dragonwyck movie you mean? That's from Google and has an address of www.the directorsview.com/

Good luck in getting a poster to suit your taste.

I love the Dragonwyck poster! Thanks for the link.

Raggedyaggie, I love Mel Gibson but i think my hubby would be a bit miffed. <s> He would probably think Mel's eyes are following him or something!

We've decided upon "The Lord of the Rings", "The Empire Strikes Back", "Singin' in the Rain", and if I can find it, "Dragonwyck".

Now the hubby has this great (I'm rolling my eyes right now) idea that we should get original autographed pics of actors in their movie getups. Harrison Ford in Raiders, David whatshisname in Angel, etc.

So, does anyone have ideas for those? I would love to hear them!
Thanks!
