Hey, I'm working on a short story; and I need a character to be ?'hospitalized' for rest of her life (which is at least years). Does anyone know a disease that could require such aggressive action? I was thinking it would nice (for the story) for her to be somewhat quarantined from outsiders. The disease shouldn't be easily communicable, and the ?'quarantine' should be for her protection (possibly from outside germs). (I didn't know if aides would work or maybe some form of degenerative disease.)

PS: I don't want a complete quarantine family members should be still seeing the character.

lukimeia, or however you spell it. once it progresses and you have a bone marrow transplant you must be hospitalized to keep from contracting illnesses since you have little or to immune system. Also, perhaps she could have taken badly with the transplant and not been able to recover her own immune system for some strange reason.

I like the fact that as great as medicne is, and for all that doctors know about it, strange things still happen. like someone dying from a toothache... lol. It leaves the imagination open to many possibilites.
