When Flash won't work
I had the same problem with Flash recently after updating QuickTime. According to Mozilla, when you install QuickTime, or change its settings, it may take over handling the Flash files, and your Flash files won't work. To fix it, try the following (Reposted from PluginDoc: Macromedia Flash Player FAQ
1. Close Firefox
2. Open the Quick Time Control Panel
3. Select "Browser Plug-in" from the dropdown menu
4. Open up the MIME Settings dialog
5. Make sure "Flash file" is not selected. This is listed under Miscellaneous.
6. Click OK and close the Quick Time Control Panel
7. Remove the file pluginreg.dat from your Mozilla or Firefox Profiles directory. This file will be recreated next time you start Mozilla

After doing this, you may need to reinstall Macromedia Flash Player.
Hope this helps! It worked for me.
