Not North Dakota. Hint, what was the name of your first President?

Rolling Eyes Good grief, Dutchy. I've forgotten. Just kidding, honey. Washington state. When you said NE from Colorado, it threw me.

Should have been NW, I think, but I am clueless with a compass. Razz

Let's try Mount Rainier, Washington State.

Not Mt Rainier. What you see on photo is a Summit Cairn!

Ok, let's review. Your summit cairn (stone marker) is in the Rockies in Washington State, right?

Now you're talking. The peak is situated in the North Cascade National Park. All you need now is it's name.

You know, Dutchy. I don't know how a kid ever learns geography. There's a lot of misleading info on the web and very few maps that pinpoint certain locations. Is it one of the following peaks?

PARKS North Cascades National Park Complex
Washington
Desolation Peak, Mount Fury, Jagged Ridge, Mount Terror ?- the names on the map strongly hint at the character of the North Cascades National Park Complex. This is the largest and most rugged alpine wilderness in the contiguous United States, with scores of 8,000-foot peaks, upwards of 400 glaciers, virgin Douglas fir and Western red cedar forests, and wildlife that includes gray wolves and grizzlies.

Does your map show "West McMillan Spire"?

My map doesn't show anything about peaks, Dutchy. That's why I have been all over the place. Got the info I just posted from Wikipedia. Even google is not acquainted with "West McMillan Spire."

Dear Letty, my google gives me ample details about this site. Stick 'Summit Cairn of West McMillan Spire' in Googles and click images!

Ok, I didn't get the entire phrase in. I left out summit cairn, Dutchy. Hold on.

Found it, Dutchy. By now you know what I did incorrectly. I left off "Summit Cairn" and wrote "peak" instead of "spire." I also assumed that it was the Rockies, which was a mistake. From now on, I will simply ask questions. That will refine my research techniques.

Nice work Letty. I picked that one because I read an article about a 'McMillan cairn' in a magazine today!
Well it is after midnight down here and I have to say goodbye for now.
