Not Canada (some people consider Canada within the Americas!)
Not Australia, but you're getting closer.
New Zealand, Aukland or Rotorua
Look to the north & east of New Zealand.
(In the photo, you may be able to detect a sign that will give you a language clue.)
Getting closer, but not Fiji.
Samoa or Christmas Island
Off the top of my head, I can't think of where Christmas Island is, but where I am is further east than Samoa. A place full of vanilla beans, Gauguin and croquembouche ...
Yes, but which one? (look closely at the sign...)
Tico, are you talking about the place where Gaugin was buried in the Marquesas Islands of Tahiti?
Hmmm, I thought Tahiti and Marquesas were different states. I'll have to go look that up.
Anyway, we are in Tahiti (figured I'd give that one up, since both Letty and c.i. are circling around it). Can you give me the location and what we're looking at?
The Marquesas Islands are one of the many interesting islands in the Tahiti group. Largely volcanic in nature they have been home for thousands of years to a people with a rich and diverse cultural identity.
The Marquesas Islands lie 1,400 kilometres north-east of Tahiti and comprise twelve volcanic islands, the smaller six are uninhabited, the other six are home to 7,000 people.
I know that Gaugin and Jacques Brel are buried here because I posted that as a place not too long ago.
Tahiti (including the entire Society Islands archipelago) and the Marquesas are part of a larger territory called
pays d'outre-mer (overseas country) of French Polynesia.
Ya learn somethin' everyday here!
Interesting. When you're on the island of Tahiti, Gauguin is everywhere. I never thought of where he would be buried.
Anyway, we're on the island of Tahiti .... but where?
Well, honey. It's too late for me to play, but I hope someone finds it.
Goodnight.
