If this place was some miles further to the west, little boys would need their fingers to ....
Here, they used concrete.

Nite, Walter. I'll try Dusseldorf, but that is a guess as well.

I recognise the picture as a "sea dyke" but the location has me baffled, although Letty mentioned Germany.

Hey, Dutchy. Walter said that it was West of Hamburg, but I hated to tell him that there was no city on my map that matched his description. So it's a sea dyke. I would never have guessed that. Did you try Dusseldorf?

Morning Letty, Dusseldorf is inland along the River Rhine, I suggested "sea dyke" but you'll find dykes along rivers too, so you might be right after all. Smile

I lean toward a "sea dyke" because of the heavy concrete enforcement.

Bremerhaven?

Ostfriesland?
Emden?

I doubt it, honey. <smile> That church spire should be a clue, so that is what Walter means by looking down, I guess.

Well, Bethie. We'll have to wait til morning to know the answers, but now I realize that Walter meant little boys would have to stick their fingers in the dyke if there was a leak. Razz

I think that when Walter said "lower", he meant the state of Lower Saxony which is west of Hamburg (and before Netherlands).

Is it around Jadebusen?

Ostfriesland? Not really. (A bit to the right.)
Jadebusen? Well, just outside, to the left.

Seadyke: yes.
(It's not a "normal house" the "tower" there).

Lower Saxony? Yes.
(You live in a town/village, but on a ...... .)

Island?

This silhouette looks much like the one in Walter's photo.

I am struggling with the aftereffects of an evening out with friends (which is why I'm here at 2:40) and a non-existant Deutsch vocabulary when all the photos I can find are captioned in German.

The island is Wangerooge and the building is .... um ... Westturm?

Whether I'm right or not, I must get some sleep now! Aussies & Euros take over, please.
