dadpad, I would never have guessed desalination plant, because it seems to be located in the middle of nowhere - far away from water.

A chemical plant, perhaps.

Well, that soil does look as though it contains quite a bit of ferrous oxide, Dutchy. Some sort of iron ore processing plant?

Yes, it does produce some gold as a by-product but something else is its main attraction to the world.

By the way this is the worlds largest Uranium mine. 42% of the world's uranium can be found here at 500 metres under the desert soil.
