Ok, I am going to try and clear this up.
I knew it wasn't Iraq, Francis, because you said so. I then asked you if the place was in the area of Iraq, and you said that it was not; consequently, I assumed that it was elsewhere away from that area. Then George asked if it were on the Arabian Peninsula, and you said that it was. That is why I posted that map. I realize that the entire peninsula includes more than Saudi Arabia, honey, but I think you can understand why I was confused.
Yes, Miss Letty, you have a very comprehensible position. The only problem is that I was trying to be precise and "area" can be very imprecise, depending on the poster's views..
Please, post a picture..
Ok, Francis. In the future when I say "area", please take it to mean "fringing on", and I will be more careful in my terminology. Thank you so much for the clarification.
Since I have the time to monitor, I will return with a place.
BIG HINT:
This is for George. Where and what is it?
...and of course, I must ask...
Is it in Virginia?
Of course, George, and you should be able to guess where.
In fairness, I must divulge that my son went to Virginia to do volunteer
work in Buchanan County.
I guess that is a school.
Oh, my, George. You already told us about your son right here.<smile>
That's why I dedicated this to you.
That's all right, Boston. It'll keep.
Good morning Letty, did George have the right answer or does it require further searching?
Hey, Dutchy. George got the county and the state, but not the city nor the place.
That is Mountain Mission School in Grundy VA.
Good morning, George, and so it is, Boston. A colleague of mine taught there for a time.
Your turn.
What city is the home of this unusual sculture?
Plaza de Armas, Santiago de Chile..
Ding, ding, ding!
We have a winner.
I'll have to make my next offering a little more of a challenge.
Your turn, Francis.
Is it in England, Francis?
