Oh no Miss Letty, Hollywood is actually a dump and quite
ugly and dirty.

ah, C.J. you just said cottages. Is that a clue, and are we in San Diego?

We are not IN San Diego, but in a town just outside the
city, Miss Letty. They seem like cottages (as Dutchy said)
but are actually houses, build after a certain region in
Europe.

No satt, it's just a bit north of San Diego.

The houses have a certain architecture that's also famous
for in a region in France, alas the town is named after
its French sister town.

I was going to guess La Jolla, C.J. but I just saw your clue about the French connection

La Jolla is where I live, Miss Letty and our houses have
mostly Spanish architecture. This community is right at
the beach, a bit north of San Diego, and it has 2 words,
to give a clue.

Here is another picture, and you can see that these houses
are not really cottages.

I didn't know that you lived in La Jolla, C.J. and yes, those are lovely homes; almost look Tudor style.

Well, I'll keep looking for places with two names that have a French influence, honey.

North of Solana Beach, Dutchy.

Hm, it's probably hard to find. I'll give you another clue: the
first part is "Saint"

No, but I tell you all, since I have to leave for a while.

It is St. Malo.
Built in the 1920, the architecture is based upon the half-timbered design of the French village of St. Malo in Normandy. In the '40s and '50s many Hollywood actors
vacationed there or bought houses. It's quite unique and
lovely at St. Malo. Here are some more pictures of it

Dutchy, dare I tell C.J. that I couldn't find ST. Malo on the map? The part about Normandy was fascinating, however.

Hi letty, I also searched the Californian coastline for a French name, but to no avail.

Now know a little bit more of that part of your Country. Very interesting all that searching. Smile

Will sign off for a while and maybe meet up again tonight (our time) Laughing
