It's not Nancy - more "to the left".

This place can be compared to Paris in some way.

Reims Walter, with part of the Reims Cathedral Tower visible on the left?

My last guess for today, goodnight all.

Nighty night, Duchy, but it's not Reims.

A bit more to the center.

Châlons-en-Champagne?

It has a "Left Bank," and a Notre Dame.

Seems it is easier for us Europeans to discover some boondocks waterfall or backwoods hotel in the USA and elsewhere then asking for a place in Europe. Laughing

Since I don't want to wait until Francis returns: it Laon, the French capital for some hundred years until Paris became the new one (the right figure on the station photo is called such).

Someone might choose a photo/place.

And here I was wracking my brain over Lutetia -- the Roman name for Paris. Rolling Eyes

Bertha of Laon, aka Bertha The Great Foot - that's the figure actually - was queen of France (and partly Germany  ), wife of Pipin the Short, and mother of Charlemagne.

I've also noticed, as I'm sure you have, that when you post your travel photos taken from the window of your hotel, it's more difficult to find than those photos that are found on the Internet.

You mean, if I'd posted a painted picture or a vintage postcard it would have been easier?

(The photo was not taken from any window, btw, but whilst walking.)
