The reason I guessed Boulder, Jane, was because that road looks strikingly like the road outside of Boulder that leads to some sort of air-control research center. (or some such thing)

If that is indeed the spot I'm thinking of, I did a considerable amount of hiking in those very hills in the recent past.

EXTRA CREDIT QUESTION:

The painting below shows the actual intersection of 2 streets in a European city. Name the city, then name the 2 streets.

It actually is Boulder, Colorado. One of my favorite cities in the US.

One of my favorite views, CJ, is heading into Boulder on I-36 from Denver. Lovely mountainscape.

Tico, it is indeed a lovely mountainscape. Estes Park just took
my breath away - although I bypassed the hotel where "The Shining" was filmed, but we stayed in a little lodge up from
Boulder.

gustav seems to like it too.

wandel, it looks llike France?

Okay to bypass the Stanley -- which was the subject of one of my Where Am I's a while back. Not that much to see there.

We go to Estes Park at least once a year, and stay right at the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Hi sweet Miss Letty. Yes 1:30 is correct, however it does
not correlate with our time - thus not the US.

Well, honey. That's look like a pipe organ, so I assume it's some sort of concert hall. Europe?

Saw the Estes Park shot and recognized the area since Merry Andrew and I were there two weeks ago. The lodges still had their Christmas lights up. Incredibly beautiful.
