i take it the dashes represent the number of letters in each word...unfortunately, i'm not familiar with this quote nor with browning's poetry, and it's too early to google. Sad

i could take a stab at the words, though

the ____ brought the good news from ____ to Aix?

Hey, Mr. Turtle. It's a poem by Robert Browning.

Another hint. It's in the U.S. <smile>

No, wandel. Another hint. the "h" is silent in Browning's poem, but the natives pronounce it at this location.

Well, mr. turtle, the natives in this state pronounce the "h" but not the rest of the world. Right name; wrong state

Actually, the Belgium town is http://www.gent.be/gent/home/art/nav/logo.gif - the 'h' has been just "introduced" be some English speaking persons.

Well, Walter. I am not questioning your acumen, but you are right about the hard "g" sound. Do you know the place of which I speak?

unfortunately, i'm not a big John Denver fan, so i didn't get tico's hint, but google "almost heaven" & ghent do return hits. at which point, i found the "country roads" lyrics, which start out

Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River.
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze.
Country roads, take me home to the place I belong.
West Virginia, mountain momma, take me home, country roads.

so, twil be my honor to post a picture, but allow me a while to come up with an idea.

Good for you, Mr. Turtle. And the exact location is Winterplace, but I'm not picky like some people. Razz
