Monnickendam

Monnickendam (pop: 10,089 in 2004) is a town in the Netherlands, in the province Noord-Holland. It is the main town of the municipality Waterland, and is located on the coast of the IJsselmeer, about 10 km northeast of Amsterdam. It received city rights in 1355.
