Well, Imur. I am going to try again, buddy. I'll google some more official residences, and see if I can pin point the place.

Imur, it must be a government official's place of residence, and I am a wee bit ignorant of the political structure there. Am I on the right track so far?

You are on the right track.

Ireland is a Republic, so doesn't have a monarchy.

Hope that helps..

Just a guess, Imur. Is it the mayor's place of residence? I cannot find one image that matches yours.

Not the mayor's residence.

A hint - the house is white, isnt it?

Yes, it most certainly is a white house, but I know it's not in our capitol. Razz

Okay, Paddy. I'll keep searching.

It's connected to (Irish) Palladianism, James Hoban - I think

Walter - if you're hinting at Irish-American equivalence, then yes.
I don't believe this building was designed by Hoban, however.

My knowledge of architecture is minimal, i'm afraid.

Imur, the only possible choice that I have left is the president's official residence. Is that it? I cannot find an image, however.

Letty, you are right. It is the official residence of the President.

Here's the current occupant, Mary McAleese.

It's called "áras an úachtarán", which is where I got my pic from google. I assumed that there would be many pictures available on-line, but clearly I was mistaken. I apologise.

Please don't move me to a restricted area...

Well, Imur, consider yourself unmoved. Mary is a lot prettier than Laura, incidentally.<smile>

I'll be back later with a place, Irish.

Nathaniel Clements was an amateur architect whose Palladian designs made an important contribution to Irish architecture in both country and town in the period c.1730-c.1770, and he was the architect of that "White House".

Does that help? Razz
