No, Francis. I haven't kissed my mother in years. <smile>

Ok. The statue must be in France. I don't know any place else that they would have a statue with an epee in hand.

(if you think that I am going to say, "touche", think again.)

Goodnight, Francis. I am certain that Walter is in bed as well.

Wandel, why don't you have a go?

Is that a yellow state flag in the background? New Mexico perhaps, or New Jersey?

Oops, I see palm trees in the background. That probably eliminates New Jersey.

And it's tough to see, but the statue has a slightly conquistador or spanish appearance.

Now I'm thinking Florida somewhere. Or southern Texas maybe?

Ros, there is simply not enough information, but it could be Florida. All we know at this point is that it is in North America.

Hi Letty,

This is the first time I've seen this thread and I haven't had time to go back far enough to see how it works exactly.

Is the goal to simply know the place and state it? Or are we expected to look for clues and ask for hints from the poster until someone puts the pieces together?

You're doing it right, Ros. Just try and find out where that picture is and pin point the area.

I just found the first page of the original thread. This is a 20 questions game. I need to be careful not to waste too many questions (such as guessing every state one at a time Smile )

Good job, rosborn. I'd say you are correct ... with perhaps one correction. You are in the right spot, but the person depicted in the statue appears to be Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles, a Spanish Admiral, named by the king of Spain the first Governor of the Florida territory.

I'd say rosborne can go ahead and take a turn (since Francis is likely asleep, and cannot verify at this time).

Quote:
Lightner Museum
The front of the Lightner Museum which used to be Henry Flagler's Alcazar Hotel. The statue is of Pedro Menendez. Located right across from Flagler College which used to be the Ponce de Leon Hotel.

Good job, rosborne. I also think you are correct.

(This a difficult game, I was thinking Europe only.)

The statue was a tough search. I enjoyed it. Once I saw the palm tree in the background and got a vague impression of a conquistador I figured Florida and started googling Spanish American war and Florida history. Eventually found the image and recognized it.

Ok. Try this. A view from the top of a Mountain.
