One of many paintings of the beheading of St John in Malta.
I don't know much about the hermit, and have a certain piquant or worse view of the Knights of Malta.
I posted the photo since I like the architecture, as is my way.
osso, I'm curious. What we heard in Malta about the Knights of Malta were pretty impressive stuff - like providing medical care to all the people in need. Can you explain your derision?
I'll be glad to, in the morning.
I was originially charmed by the wall of Pirenesi when I first saw it at the property in the Aventine in Rome.
hasta manana, and if I don't answer, nag me...
I've posted on that somewhere here before, and have no interest in being repetitive - will find the link.
Since Francis can't post, so what about Letty (since she knows now how to post pics), when she's awake?
Walter, Good idea; go Letty!
Wow! Just got up so I'll have to see if I can still do the picture thing. Fantastic painting, C.I. Where's Salome? <smile>
You go ahead, Walter.
There it is, yawl. <smile>
clue:
Francis ought to know this.
Further clue:
The word means massacre.
Yes, and Francis is not telling where it is....
Well, Francis. Obviously you know. <smile> Such an interesting history behind that area, as well as the city.
