That is the Madeira Island's Funchal International Airport, which extends on stilts over the Atlantic.
I was in Madeira last November, but I was on a cruise. Don't remember seeing that airport, and the driver-guide I had took me all over the island. It's a hilly, beautiful landscape with orchards all over the place.

I've not been to most of the countries of the Mid-East. I've been to Jordan, Turkey, and Egypt, but would like to visit Israel, Iran, and others that surround Iran. I have a friend in Iran; a young engineer that lives in Tehran with his wife and young son. He's sent me pictures of some very old constructions in Iran that I'd like to visit.
