About 150 km north-east of Hyderabad is Warrangal, once the capital of the Kakatiya kingdom which stretched the greater part of present-day Andhra Pardesh from the later years of the 12th century till it was overpowered by Tughlaqs of Delhi in the earlier years of 14th century.
The city was ruled by several dynasties and each of them had contributed much to its art & architecture, making it one of the most treasured places of historical monuments. The Hindu Kakatiyas were great builders and admirers of the arts, and it was during their rule that the Chalukyan style of temple architecture reached the acme of its development. The glorious history, the intricate architecture, the rich natural resource, the beautiful lakes, all added to its importance as one of the most preferred tourist destinations in the state of Andhra Pradesh India.
