Somewhere along the Pacific Coast Highway?
Not all that far away from it, but no, not along PCH.
In case anyone shows up to ask questions, I'm going to the store, back shortly.
West or East coast of th US?
George was right about Pacific Coast, and I'll give you
California. I've been trying to look it up myself and only find it on one or two sites so far, which is quite stupid since it is not all so tiny a place. There is a fairly quick way to look it up - well, not the place exactly, but to start to narrow it down - and what seems to be useless trails...
I could give hints, but prefer questions make me do that. A friend's place overlooks this scene (more or less) and I've done a small painting of it, long gone at a museum donation/win-a-prize show.
(That comment seems a little dejavu, did I do this one before?)
To clarify re George's question, this is not along the Pacific Coast Highway, known as Highway 101, a highway I've started a thread about here a couple of years ago, look up Driving 101 - but not for help for this question.
We are inland of that.
Are we looking than at a Lake in the State of California?
Yes, it is named a lake and it is in California.
And, as mentioned, inland of highway 101.
Different lakes, at least at their best. (I've only seen Tahoe myself for a very short time.)
I love Clear Lake, which I fairly recently discovered and took a bunch of photos of, as I was driving past, back and forth and back and forth - but, alas, have not committed them to my computer. But, this is not Clear Lake.
What I ran into myself on seeing if I could look this up, is that there aren't any immediately accessible Lake Maps on google for California. Unless you are better at that than I am. I did find one place to look that up.
Consider - other than google images
Consider nabbing the area - not all so easy to descibe either, but you could narrow it down.
Consider how "lakes" may be formed.
Osso, what do you mean by nabbing the area? and to recap, the lake is inland, right?
Well, I PMed osso as she suggested, but until she responds:
Where am I and what is the signifcance of this place?
Nabbing the area? Figuring out the location. Yes, it is inland.
Along California Hwy 178?
Could it be Lake Isabella?
You're so good, Walter!!
Yes, it is. It is not a natural lake, but a reservoir between forks of the Kern River.
The lake is near the top of this map on the left -
a tiny painting I did of a friend's property in Wofford Heights, near the lake -
