The place is in France, but no fort(resse), not in Britanny and not on the Biskaya.

Assuming it's not Deauville, I'm picking up vibes for Arromanches, a lot of the photos have the word pier associated with them..

Not Omaha Beach nor Arromanches (but of course not very far away from that). Too much land there as well.

And 'pier' was no hint nor is it connected to that photo.
