I have never worked legally, with a work permit on a real Place like bank or something, since I came to this country as a student, and did not have work permit. Now, One Company is literally begging me to work for them. It is a travel agency, and their Turkey Coordinator walked out and they want me on her place. I Do not have right to work. Now I am thinking about the most stupid thing-To get hired without legal papers. Most of u guys are those who live and work in this country. Can Anybody give me a list or any idea of how people get hired to Job in The USA? I mean the Legal part. U show them social security number, ID What else?

You need to show proof of citizenship in order to be able to work legally in this country, if I am understanding your question correctly. Barring that, you need to have a valid green card. If you have neither, your potential employer is risking a lot (fines and possibly worse) if they hire you and are caught.

Proof of citizenship? Since when? As far as I know, all you need is a Social Security number so that FICA can be withheld from your wages. Now, whether you can get that without an appropriate visa, I don't know. I bow to your legal expertise, Jes, but if you're right then that's a brand new law which certainly was not on the books not too many years ago.

I'm tired and not making much sense. But you do have to show a Social Security card and a proof of address, or at least I've had to do that recently so that's what I'm basing my answer on. The best answer, of course, is to do some research with the US Department of Labor.

INS would be the department to ask.

Social Security card is the normal proof o right to work. Driver license or state issued photo ID are the normal documents used to prove you are the person the card attaches to. There are others, of course.

Best option, NoNe, would to be to get resident alien status and ID, and maybe the travel agent can help you get it if a knowledge of Turkey and the language are necessary.
