Is a CCNA or CCNP still coveted in today's market worldwide?

A part of military specialisation in a certain computer unit is that after 3.5 months of studying you are assigned somewhere and given a cisco networking degree. I'm not sure if it's a CCNA or a CCNP, but I would appreciate your thoughts on whether either of them are a good investment of 3.5 months as well as in the market worldwide for non-braindead IT jobs Smile
I already have an associate's degree in engineering if that helps.

Having a certification is certianly better than not having one. Whether it will help you specifically or not depends on a lot of things but mostly on the job you are applying for.

I got my CCNP before I retired from the AF and it helped with my first civilian job but I also had Cisco 5500 ATM switch experience which was even more helpful for that particular position.

Either way, there is no cost to you so get whatever certifications you can while someone else is paying for it. Wink
