Hi, have a client that had the mod-rewrite installed wrong before, it has been working but causes the phpbb to not be able to go to the next page of topics. When I add the code to the page_header.php file correctly, it solves this problem.

However, none of the pages have the ( -) dash in the file name, therefore, when I reinstall this MOD, their pages will have the dash and will have to be googled again.

so, I have removed the dashes from the page_header.php file and some from the htaccess file and then I can't reply to any topics, or post new ones.

for instance, when I click on new topic or reply, I will get the error "the topic or post you requested does not exist. "

and this is what is in the address bar:
/posting.php?mode=reply&t=253

any ideas, need any more info?

thanks,
robert

Sounds like a problem in the .htaccess file. And it also sounds like a problem introduced by someone else's code.

Feel free to post the code from the page_header.php and .htaccess file in case others can give you custom advice, but my code works and I will just suggest you use that than try to support other code.

If you want to alter the string the mod_rewrite looks for then make sure you understand what you are doing. It sounds like you have a rule that looks for postX.html but that doesn't differentiate between that and posting.php

thanks, that is exactly what the problem is, they had someone else do this, they didn't follow your instructions plus there are things in the htaccess that are not in your example.

I did manage to get it working except for the fact that if you are a guest, then you can't navigate to the next page of topics when there are more than 1. If you are logged in, it is no problem, all works as intended.

The way he had it setup before, they did not set it so that it checked to see if you were logged in, it showed you the html pages logged in or not.

however, when he started to get enough posts to make a second page, it would not go to it.

That is when he called me.

I am trying to get him to let me just redo the whole thing for him.

thanks.
robert
