In all the cliched posts about how "intelligent" and "courageous" AOC is, no one can tell me how she is different than an ideological cheerleader just feeding her adoring fans what they want to hear.

Anyone... Tell me one thing that AOC has said that you didn't already believe?

Posting again as I'm not sure which AOC thread this most applies to. If she's going to be so popular around here she may need more than one.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/3/28/18285533/aoc-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-poll-favorables-media

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the social media star and self-identified democratic socialist, is fairly unpopular around the country.

Interesting results from these polls. The one I found most interesting was this bit...

Quote:
A large number of Democrats — 44 percent — haven’t heard enough about her to have an opinion. A much smaller percentage of Republicans — 23 percent — can say the same. AOC is simply better known among Republicans than Democrats, and this is driving her unfavorables up.

There are a number of reasons why this could be the case. Her overall political message is pretty polarizing, and it’s not surprising that this would turn off Republicans especially. But disproportionate attention to her in conservative media seems to be a major part of the story.

I also find myself agreeing with her here...although I think a good part of this is her own making.

“I’ve got a full-time job in Congress and then I moonlight as America’s greatest villain, or as the new hope. And it’s pretty tiring,” she said. “This ravenous hysteria — it’s really getting to a level that is kind of out of control.”

There's always a danger in standing and speaking. Sitting down and staying quiet is pretty much risk-free, in the short term anyway.

Add in the boldest of her contributions so far, along with the fact that what she is being bold regarding is exactly the sort of policies and values that the right has been trying to eviscerate from political discussion for half a century. Then add her talents. That the right wing media universe is trying to tear her down with incessant coverage is 100% predictable, as you know. And they'll keep at it. That's their job as propagandists.

She really is not doing the "Look at me! Look at me!" self-concerned personal ambition thing that marked Ted Cruz's arrival and first year in the Senate. And as she's only been around for a few months, her future recognition factor will change.

Like yours? They do not lie like you do, is that part of their job? It is part of yours, a big part. You are simply not a credible source, that has been proven. I don't think you will be posting much longer, even the oldest of forum members are on to you, and have said what I have said just using different words that arrive at the same conclusion.
