Which dialogues of Plato did you read, Yitwail? I am new at this, but whatever I have read so far kind of impressed me a lot.
bram, i've read most of them, actually, and i like most of them. i have not read "The Laws," which isn't a dialogue, and i haven't gone through "The Republic," which i should, but it's lengthy and i don't care for its conclusion. Plato was a talented writer, as well as a formidable philosopher, which is a big reason for his appeal, i think, but you need to take it with a grain of salt. Aristotle remarked, for instance, that Plato was dear to him, but truth was dearer still. on the other hand, i've tried reading Aristotle, and it's extremely dry stuff.
