Movie where girl tells a story about the summer she died

Are you thinking of ‘Lovely Bones’? I read the novel some years back.

Wasn't the victim from Lovely Bones, an evil stranger/neighbor not a friend of a friend? (Though you're probably in the neighborhood plot wise). I haven't read the book or seen the movie but I've read and watched several movie reviews about the highly maligned Peter Jackson box office flop.

I don't remember, I do remember I didn't like the book. Didn't see the movie.

A darned good movie as the actors were all quite good in their roles. The .it is also introduced me to the work of exceptionally talented young actress, Saoirse Ronan.
