Securing a decent working wage for all. Safeguarding pensions and benefits. Facilitating equal opportunities for all children. Investing in public schools, rewarding teachers in high-pressure schools with an annual bonus. Promoting transparency and expanding multinationals' accountability to the public. We are not against privatisation per se, but insist on avoiding the kind of semi-privatisation that leads to private monopolies, run by government-subsidised but profit-making corporations without accountability.
Fair trade. Robust support for democratic movements around the world, regardless of narrow national interest. Suspension of loans and development aid to dictatorships, and divertion of funding directly to NGO's. Cancelling the debts of the poorest countries to First World states. Empowering international organisations. Clamping down on trafficking of women and children.
Tackling discrimination: ensuring every woman has the opportunity to work. But promoting part-time work that will enable both parents to spend more time with their children. Facilitating flex work, but empowering flex workers. Better sex education to counter teenage pregnancies and make fewer abortions necessary. But retaining a woman's choice. Limiting access to guns. Tackling racial and religious discrimination, for example by obliging companies to report annually how many people of minority background they have hired. Relentlessly persecuting extremist terrorists. Enlisting the expertise of (minority) community organisations to bolster a united front against extremism. Protection of sheep and other farm animals against abuse.
And free whipped cream for all. Paid by an increased purchase tax on [EDIT:] lentils and beans.
Of course, the programme is a work in progress. Sozobe, Farmerman and our other supporters represent a range of persuasions and constituencies. We are willing to listen to and integrate any good new ideas, and adapt ours where proven insufficient. We would love to use your input, too.
Vote for Sozobe and Farmerman. You know it makes sense.
