Kuwait is the place to be.

I watched a special on the average Kuwaiti. They live rather nicely and are middle class or higher. The president gives $10,000 as a gift to newly married couples as well. Woman cannot vote but can be CEOs and influence one none the less. I think I'll immigrate.

if you fancy walking around in full body armour and intruiging driving skills then go for it.

or being shot at for that matter.

kuwait, well off or not, is still a rather dangerous place to live at this time. thanks to our good friends george bush and tony blair.

still it could be worse. saudi is a lot stricter.

(if your wondering how i got this view, my uncle lived in both saudi and kuwait)

I respect that a lot more. The 20/20 special with the room full of Kuwaiti's seemed like a travel video......... Kuwaitland. Everyone gets a turban with mouse ears and a gift from the king for marrying your damsel.

You can't emigrate to Kuwait. You have to born in country and your parents must be citizens in order to qualify.

not necessarily dear

my uncle is british, was not born anywhere near there....and his parents arent citizens.

all u have to do to emigrate out there is get a job with a british/us based company that posts out there and express a desire to work there. not that youd want to although the money is gooooood.

Probably the post wound up in Africa because there is no Forum for Middle East.

Correct, but since the fora in 'Travel and Culure' are continental-wise and not about regions, 'Asia' would be the appropriate one.

Did your uncle work and live in Kuwait or become a citizen outright? Many arab nations do not allow foreign citizenship but if foreigners were not allowed to work in country the economy and standard of living would crumble. I too have had an uncle who resided in Kuwait but he was never even considered for citizenship. Maybe your uncle had more considerations?

Amen. I'm not in the business of screwing up forums. I didn't think hard enough though to contemplate the travel forum. Kuwait is kinda near Africa....... (note to readers: to anyone who feels obliged to flame me if it not kinda near, I didn't have my atlas in front of me. Just memory. I know turkey is north or something with Iraq's border, Kuwait being southwest, Iraq being the size of PA???

he worked and lived in kuwait as a post for a british based company. he is now in nigeria for the same company...and before kuwait he was in saudi for the same company.

i dont know about citizenship, but i do know that they treat foreigners no differently to their own people when it comes to the religious police.

i dont think he became a citizen or even wanted to be. he's too proud of good old england.

If I am not mistaken, Kuwait is in the Middle East/Asia (not Africa)?

I'm sorry to be busting your bubble, Can of Ham, but shouldn't Kuwait be categorized in the "Asia" section? Confused
