From the moment you entered this world of existence,
A ladder was put in front of you so you could escape.
Divan
"Don't you see that the roads to Mecca are all different?...The roads are different, the goal one...When people come there, all quarrels or differences or disputes that happened along the road are resolved...Those who shouted at each other along the road 'you are wrong' or 'you are an infidel' forgot their differences when they come there because there, all hearts are in unison."
Last night you left me and slept your own deep sleep. Tonight you turn and turn. I say, 'You and I will be together till the Universe dissolves.' You mumble back things you thought of when you were drunk.
To heal the burning of your sorrow,
I seek a flame.
To gather the dust of your door,
I seek the palms of my hands.
To deal with you hiding behind your holiness,
I seek a good time instead.
I come to you, aching for you. You say, 'You're drunk. Go away.' I say 'No. I'm not drunk. Please open the door.' You say, 'You are, you are.. Go away'.
Reason is powerless in the expression of Love. Love alone is capable of revealing the truth of Love and being a Lover. The way of our prophets is the way of Truth. If you want to live, die in Love; die in Love if you want to remain alive.
A drunk comes in off the road with a flask. The cup going round and round, hand to hand, suddenly slips, shatters. Cups don't last long among drunks.
The Lovers
will drink wine night and day.
They will drink until they can
tear away the veils of intellect and
melt away the layers of shame and modesty.
When in Love,
body, mind, heart and soul don't even exist.
Become this,
fall in Love,
and you will not be separated again
What you are looking for is what is looking.
- St. Francis of Assisi
There is no 'other world.' I only know what I've experienced. You must be hallucinating.
If you do not possess the staff of caution and discrimination, use the eyes of him who sees. If there is no staff of caution and discrimination, do not wander on the road without a guide.

Muriel Maufroy, ( 1997)
It may be that the satisfaction I need depends on my going away, so that when I've gone and come back, I'll find it at home.
He has afflicted you from every direction in order to pull you back to the Directionless.
What a loss, loss, loss, loss it is
to remain sober among the intoxicated and the unconscious.
The soul which cannot endure fire and smoke won't find the Secret. - Diwan - Ode 887
I love, love, love these... I can't stay away but must return to this short thread and its long thoughts.
Thanks for posting them, New Haven. It is has become one of my favorite stopping off places!
The meaning of poetry has no sureness of direction; it is like the sling, it is not under control.
Rumi
The people of Love are hidden within the populace; Like a good man surrounded by the bad.
