Here are 2 laptops I'm thinking of purchasing:
Tobisha Satellite M40 JM300E
Dell Inspiron 9300
The specs of the toshiba can be found on their website. As for the Dell, it's a special offer:
Pentium M 740
17" Ultrasharp widescreen
1 GB ddr2 ram
80gb hdd
24x cdburner/dvd combo drive
128 mb ATI mobility radion x300 pci
free 256 usb key
case
Which one would you go for?
Disco, Before I bought my laptop, I asked the guys at the repair shop at Fry's Electronics. They recommended Fujitsu because they require the least amount of repair and maintenance. It even has wifi, but haven't used it, because I need an extra phone line for it.
I recall you were comparin' that Toshiba to a Sony a while back. That time, I voted for the Toshiba - better machine for the money, IMO. This time, on my scorecard, the Toshiba loses - I'd go for the Dell - better display, larger hard drive and more memory tip the scale for me. The Toshiba has a niftier optical drive, but that isn't enough to bring it to the top, in my book. Besides, for a few bucks more, the Dell could be configured with an equivalent optical drive.
