Is it copyright if I stream Facebook Lives of myself commentating a live sports match? I didn't even show the TV which was on mute. I got blocked for 3 days. So frustrating.
Cheers
@hopelessnick,
You know how you get a message during, before, or after a sportscast which says, "This broadcast is copyrighted and cannot be rebroadcast without the express written permission of the broadcaster"?
Yeah. You did that.
@jespah,
But I'm not rebroadcasting it? I'm talking about it and giving my own thoughts?
What did your viewers SEE?
You said you streamed the event while talking about it.
@hopelessnick,
You were commenting on a live sporting event, radio channels have to pay a licence to do that. You've not paid anything.
Oh - YOU were watching the game but not showing the screen, then broadcasting it live on FB.
@hopelessnick,
That makes no difference, radio stations don't show the match either, but they still have to pay for the right to broadcast live commentary.
@izzythepush,
Yep. This is a licensing situation. Radio stations, etc. pay a ton of $$ for the rights to broadcast and comment.
