Greetings all. This post is for other attorneys in this forum who may have knowledge of the above legal market.
My spouse and I will be relocating later this year. One of the markets we are considering is Boston.
I'm targeting finding work as a lawyer in a practice with a small to mid-size firm, government agency or public interest group, in the following areas: bankruptcy; consumer protection; regulatory/litigation (consumer or credit markets).
I'm concerned of the impression that the market has many lawyers competing for only a few jobs, and that they may not be as receptive to out-of-towners.
Any input on the openness/closedness of the Boston legal market would be appreciated.
Well, you could always take my case
The Boston area is probably saturated with lawyers (like most large cities), so you would need something to make you really stand out.
I have three lawyer friends. One got a job pretty quickly, another it took him months, the other couldn't find anything and ended up becoming a school teacher.
From talking to one of them, last year the job market for lawyers here was terrible, very saturated. Not sure how it's changed since.
