@Sturgis,
With all the tv I am actually interested in watching, why would I watch some moldy and stale late night television?

Don't you want to watch Ed McMahon and Johnny Carson age over the years?

@Sturgis,
I'm not sure what it was, but Johnny Carson had kharizma! His list of guests were for the history books. I guess most of us enjoyed it, because it was clean fun.

@tsarstepan,
Considering the loveliness of the month of may, isn't "lovely" a strong word to use to describe November?

@glitterbag,
Do you think Theresa is overrated, because most people over here think she's a bit ****?

@tsarstepan,
Isn't she deserving of the respect one would afford to anyone in her position?

@vonny,
Are you saying this because you saw Oh, Calcutta! 3 dozen times and still haven't figured which scenes she appears in?

@tsarstepan,
Oh! Calcutta! is an avant-garde theatrical revue, created by British drama critic Kenneth Tynan. ... Revivals enjoyed even longer runs, including a Broadway revival that ran for 5,959 performances, making the show the longest-running revue in Broadway history at the time. Have you really never heard of it?

@Sturgis,
Being born in 1971, do you really think I would know anything about a 1972 flick with less than 225 votes and a terrible 5.2 average rating on IMDb?

@vonny,
On Radio 4 a while back there was a documentary on the rise of the permissive society and the backlash by people like Mary twatting Whitehouse.

One of the items discussed was the obscenity trial of O Calcutta. One thing that stood out was that one of the judges was a specialist in maritime law which seems a bit odd.

What makes it quite farcical is that said judge was an expert in bottomry, the definition given below, but clearly whoever was putting the panel together thought it meant something else.

Quote:
bottomry

noun: bottomry

a system of merchant insurance in which a ship is used as security against a loan to finance a voyage, the lender losing their money if the ship sinks.

Nice to see you posting again Von. How are you feeling, canny enough?
